Getting the first period is nothing less than getting into a first relationship. The comparison may be a bit hilarious but is totally relatable. Having your first period is full of mixed emotions, to begin with.
You kind of like it that it has finally happened but you are also scared of some outcomes. You don’t know what issues you may start facing, there are different kinds of stories, different ways to solve it, and you do not know what you are going to face.
Also, you know that it is going to stay with you for a long time like a commitment but you do not know for how long.

A cycle of your period
You may have heard stories from your friends regarding their period cycle. But you need to understand – it is not the same for everyone. The cycle of the period may be 28 days or even lesser and it totally depends on different individuals. Same goes with the duration of the period which can range in between 2 and 7 days.
First day behavior of your period
You need to figure out how the first day of your first period treats you. You may have serious pain or you may not feel anything at all. You may also feel disturbed or uncomfortable and you have to figure out how your first day of the first period treats you so that you are aware of its behavior the next time.

Pain because of the period cramps
Basically, during your first period, you won’t feel any pain because it is the start. But don’t get fooled by it.
What products you are comfortable in
Apparently, you would not know how all products work until you try them. So, go with the product which you think will be most comfortable. If still, things don’t work out, choose the product depending upon your flow and comfort level.
Color and flow of the blood
You know that the color of the blood is red. But the color of the period blood may vary. It could be lighter red, darker red, brownish, blackish red, and so on and that is totally okay. You don’t need to get panic about it.
Indication because of the vaginal discharge
The vaginal discharge is basically a thin fine serum-like liquid in white color. This starts around 6 months before you get your first period. It is a totally normal thing as your vagina cleans itself this way. After some days of this vaginal discharge, you are likely to have your period.
PMSing is real
Now, this is a real thing and it is going to stay with you like for a very long time. PMS symptoms include bloating, mood swings, cramps, headaches, craving for a certain food and a lot of easy-peasy but really tough symptoms.

Your first period will be on the lighter side and not like the usual period. Your period will totally differ from the first period in the coming time for sure. You will not experience heavy flow, period cramps, and things will be fine. But things will change subsequently.
